The principal emphasis of Mr. Stallman's practice is in the area of patent evaluation, business counseling, litigation and strategic planning. He also has significant experience in patent licensing and due diligence investigations.

Mr. Stallman handles a wide variety of technologies and has special expertise is in optics and laser based equipment, as well as in medical devices. He received a BS in physics and computer science from Rutgers University. While attending school, he worked with the high energy physics research team and was responsible for designing optical and electronic analysis systems.


After practicing patent law for three years in New York City, Mr. Stallman joined the San Francisco intellectual property law firm of Limbach & Limbach in 1981. During his tenure at Limbach, he served on various management committees and also acted as its managing partner. In January of 2001, he founded this firm with Mr. Pollock.

Mr. Stallman has extensive litigation experience in both in U.S. and foreign tribunals. He has participated in a number of trials. Leveraging this experience, he is able to aid his clients develop, maintain and defend their intellectual property. He also consults with litigation counsel at general practice firms to insure successful outcomes in patent trials.

Mr. Stallman’s clients include optical metrology device manufacturers, laser systems manufacturers, medical device companies and communication system manufacturers.
